About The Position

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, performs duties necessary to support the Recreation Division by assisting with coordinating events and programs, including event and program management, marketing, development and maintenance of sponsor relationships, and oversight of staff, volunteers, vendors, and contractors. This role involves creating, planning, and executing special events and programs, administering and coordinating the City's Public Art Program, and providing administrative and customer support.

Requirements

  • First Aid and CPR certifications from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Ellis & Associates required, or the ability to obtain within five (5) months of hire.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and/or write letters, memos, contracts, spreadsheets, and other job-related analysis.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.
  • Ability to research, compile and analyze data, and present findings to management in an acceptable format.
  • Ability to monitor and assess operations, workload, projects, and team performance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City and other public employees, public officials, contractors, consultants, vendors, media, and the general public.
  • Ability to create, implement, and oversee events.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work under high demands, short time constraints, and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment, meeting established timelines/deadlines and multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Ability to design graphics in various formats and mediums.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of recreation and group activities.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver license.
  • Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Leisure Studies or related field.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in providing recreation programs.
  • Working knowledge of software used for graphic design and to develop brochures and other marketing materials (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Create, plan, and execute special events and programs, including scheduling, coordinating resources and logistics, preparing materials, creating and distributing marketing materials, soliciting and maintaining sponsorships, and coordinating staffing (City employees, vendors, contractors, volunteers).
  • Execute special events and programs such as Fishing for Fun, Night Hike, Keep Keller Beautiful, and others as assigned.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for changes to the Recreation Manager.
  • Prepare content for reports and other communication avenues for internal and external use.
  • Develop and maintain essential partnerships with the general public, groups, and vendors.
  • Administer and coordinate the City's Public Art Program.
  • Plan, organize, and execute quarterly art exhibitions and artist receptions.
  • Coordinate Public Art Board-sponsored events, including the Keller Art Festival, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Concert, Mother's Day Concert, and other arts-related programs and initiatives.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Public Art Board by preparing meeting agendas, attending monthly board meetings, recording and publishing meeting minutes, and coordinating board communications and projects.
  • Manage artist correspondence, exhibit logistics, artwork installation and removal, and related administrative functions.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with artists, arts organizations, community groups, and vendors.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of public art projects, programs, and special initiatives.
  • Provide administrative and customer support, including responding to customers in person, by email, and/or by phone.
  • Handle cash transactions, intake and maintenance of registrations and/or reservations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records and reports according to departmental, City, State, or other regulations.
  • Develop and/or maintain informational materials.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
