About The Position

The Greater Mankato Area United Way is seeking a Programming & Outreach Manager to manage its programs, volunteers, and community outreach activities. This role is crucial for ensuring the organization's impact areas of basic needs, health, and education are supported through effective program management and volunteer engagement. Requirements

Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required.
Experience with program or project coordination required.
Must be highly detail-oriented, multitasking, organized, willing to learn, and passionate about helping others.
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of community members, businesses, nonprofits, volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders.
Occasional lifting of books and other items.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds and use a handcart.

Responsibilities

Manage and develop literacy programs, including Books for Kids, Kindness Booth Book Initiative, Fourth-Grade Book Project, and Community Bookshelf Initiative.
Coordinate scheduling, communications, data management, and budgets for literacy programs.
Manage book and supply orders, inventory, and mailings/deliveries for literacy programs.
Expand program reach by connecting with new contacts, resources, and prospective participants.
Coordinate the annual Reading Festival.
Recruit, train, and support volunteers for the organization.
Supervise volunteers, track volunteer hours, and maintain volunteer contact lists.
Manage the Get Connected online volunteer platform and collaborate with staff to promote it.
Lead the annual Week/Month of Action, matching volunteers to nonprofit needs.
Build and maintain relationships with community members, schools, local agencies, and other stakeholders.
Represent United Way at community events, expos, and fairs.
Coordinate logistics for community outreach activities, including supplies, pickups/deliveries, and transportation.
Lead and develop new outreach activities, such as donation distributions.
Coordinate supplies, scheduling, and deliveries for events with the Events & Fundraising Director.
