About The Position

The Programmer I helps ensure the organization’s systems run effectively and securely by creating and maintaining internal business scripts. As a member of the IT team, this role collaborates with IT staff to support system performance, continuity, and lifecycle. The position calls for a collaborative attitude, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. Remote work is encouraged for at least part of the working week. The role involves turning requirements into technical designs, developing and maintaining software programs and scripts, analyzing application components, designing reliable systems, testing and documenting software, and developing reports. It also includes performance tuning and query optimization for existing applications and databases. Work may involve local or international travel and occasional evening or weekend availability.

Requirements

Knowledge of or experience with Perl, PHP, or C# programming languages.
Knowledge of or experience using SQL databases, such as MySQL or MS SQL.
Experience with productivity tools such as Word, Excel, and Visio.
Experience with an IDE.
Ability to transform pseudocode, designs, and specifications into high-functioning scripts.
Ability to balance multiple demands and work independently as well as collaboratively to develop solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Strong diagnostic, testing, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to listen attentively, understand others’ points, ask appropriate questions, and avoid interrupting at inappropriate times.
Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, with fluency in written, reading, and spoken English.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer information systems.
0–1 year of experience in developing, programming, or related functions.
Knowledge of IDEs, database tools, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and cloud storage equivalents.

Responsibilities

Analyze requirements and transform them into technical designs.
Write, optimize, and debug software programs and scripts.
Analyze and develop application components and functions.
Design stable, reliable, and effective systems and scripts.
Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices.
Gather user and project requirements.
Test and document software.
Develop reports for applications and users.
Perform performance tuning and query optimization for existing applications and databases.
Formulate script specifications and basic prototypes, and implement systems in the in-house production environment.
Document system proposals and analysis; establish software objectives and requirements; create functional specifications, system diagrams, and user guides.
Maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external contacts.
Travel locally or to other countries outside the U.S. when required; provide occasional evening and/or weekend availability when required.
