About The Position

The State of South Carolina is seeking an experienced Programmer Consultant to support, develop, and maintain enterprise-level systems, including web services, batch applications, and business-critical platforms. The role will initially require onsite presence for direct collaboration with technical and business teams, with the possibility of hybrid work after the probationary period. This is a rebid for a 36-month renewal with an expectation for long-term engagement. New applicants are encouraged to apply through a competitive interview process.

Requirements

• 8+ years of development experience using Micro Focus Visual COBOL on Windows Server 2019/2022 , including batch and IIS environments
• 4+ years of development experience using Visual Studio 2019/2022 , including debugging
• 4+ years of application programming experience with RDBMS such as Oracle or MS SQL

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries for Oracle and MS SQL databases
• 2+ years of experience configuring and managing IIS
• 1+ year of experience with Microsoft C# and .NET

Responsibilities

• Analyze current business applications, including web services and batch systems
• Lead the diagnosis and resolution of assigned system issues
• Design and propose scalable, efficient technical solutions
• Develop, test, and promote application changes while ensuring they meet functional requirements
• Collaborate with impacted stakeholders to gather feedback and align on functionality
• Provide regular status updates to management
