About The Position

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts. Three Rivers Health District serves the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula region which includes the counties of: Richmond, Westmoreland, Northumberland, Lancaster, Essex, Middlesex, Mathews, Gloucester, King & Queen and King William. The position of Program Support Technician will: Independently perform technical office tasks in support of a single program area regularly requiring application of policy and procedures. Characteristic activities: Serves as contact and information resource for one or more programs; serves as lead worker to direct, advise and train others; designs and directs workflow processes; researches and processes claims; collects data and prepares reports on program activities. May provide performance input regarding staff to appropriate supervisor.

Requirements

Knowledge of office procedures, computer and software technology, use of policies & procedures and customer service
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, orally and written
Strong organizational skills and experience with software applications and Microsoft Office products (i.e. WORD, EXCEL, and database entry) and general office equipment (copier, fax, calculator)
Ability and experience with setting up and maintaining files & manuals
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to follow and applicable policies
