POSITION SUMMARY Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Program Support Technician. This individual will be responsible for cleaning, testing, and maintenance of hardware including, but not limited to: Space Suit Life Support components, test rigs and other equipment as required. Job responsibilities will include: repair and maintenance, cleaning, inspection, Engineering Change (EC) incorporation, assembly, disassembly, and performance/functional testing. Repair and maintenance processes require the use of hazardous materials such as adhesives, lubricants, and solvents. Performance and functional testing require the use of pressurized gases and pure water systems. The technician will perform duties per documented procedures and work authorizing documents. Additionally, the technician will interface with customers, other technicians, engineers, logistics, and bond room personnel on a daily basis to perform job duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • 15+ years’ experience in a related field required or an appropriate equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Precision cleaning experience with xEMU/EMU and verifying cleanliness of hardware
  • Must be experienced with NASA standards for precision cleaning and verification of those standards
  • Familiarity with NASA Contamination Control Requirements
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the Aerospace precision cleaning field
  • Familiarity with NASA documentation involving verification of cleanliness of flight hardware
  • Must be able to work with external organizations such as NASA Engineering, Safety, and Quality
  • Experience using a wide variety of precision tools and measuring devices
  • Track record of delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges

  • This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). In accordance with U.S. export control laws, final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assembly, cleaning, and reassembly of aerospace hardware including the processing of components for use in oxygen and ground support systems to defined specifications.
  • Will be responsible for the maintenance and sustaining of precision cleaning lab equipment used for cleaning space suit hardware.
  • Processing of parts to specified levels of cleanliness using precision ultrasonic, acid, and caustic cleaning methods.
  • Maintain awareness of all safety policies and procedures, as well as use of all required safety and personal protective equipment.
  • Specified training online, and in classroom, as required to maintain certifications to perform job functions.
  • Perform other duties as required.
