About The Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Expunging criminal history records from the Virginia Criminal History Network (VCIN), FBI (III) Records and Digital Photo Mugshot databases. Administering court order compliance for criminal justice agencies statewide. Maintaining the state archive of expunged records. Executing criminal record challenges. Maintaining FBI linkages through daily/quarterly audits. Providing courteous customer service to petitioner, attorney, and court representatives.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of basic legal principles, processes and research methods.
  • Skills in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications and other computer formatted functions.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply state statutes, policies and procedures for order compliance.
  • Ability to research/analyze criminal history records, court orders, petitions and supporting documentation in order to process court petitions/orders.
  • Ability to utilize advanced research, analytical, customer service, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to update criminal history records and meet dissemination requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, paying close attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with Agency personnel and with the general public.
  • Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified which requires either United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience analyzing legal documents for compliance with laws and regulations preferred.
