About The Position

The Program Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is the primary quality interface between Raytheon's organization and the external supply base. The SQE provides both communication of requirements and performance feedback to the supplier as well as being a conduit for Quality information back to internal functions/programs within Raytheon. This is an onsite role in Tucson, Arizona.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience working with one or more of the following aerospace or commercial equivalent preventative tools – Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Lean Manufacturing, Control Plans, other process improvement tools
  • Previous experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience with one or more of the following Quality Management standards: ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9145, or MDA Assurance Provisions.
  • Previous experience interpreting schematic drawings and hardware inspection techniques.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma, Lean, and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)
  • Proven successes in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers/ customers.
  • Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Experience in engineering, development, project planning, and collaborating remotely.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems, AS9145 Requirements for APQP & PPAP, and FAI Standard AS9102.
  • Experience with industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
  • Experience as a self-managed technical engineer who is comfortable using communication skills
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance with the ability to obtain program access after start.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous product / process improvements of our supply base by identifying supplier risk & systemic performance issues and driving solutions through various tools/methodologies including, but not limited to: Root Cause Corrective Actions, Product & Process Verifications, and Statistical/analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies.
  • Ensure flow down of product & process requirements to sub-tier suppliers through PO requirements, Quality Notes, and statement of works (SOW).
  • Identify risk in the supply base and develop robust and executable supplier engagement plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Apply Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes related to supplier performance and implement necessary engagements to improve supplier processes.
  • Communicate and interpret technical requirements as the liaison between the supply base and Engineering for drawing changes, and disposition of nonconformance to ensure supply base understands and complies with contractual requirements.
  • Implement effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), including FRACAS investigations and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR)
  • Oversee and/or conduct on-site Source Surveillance, Source Inspection, First Article Verification, and Corrective Action reviews.
  • Participate in design reviews, program reviews, process change reviews, supplier reviews, qualification test reviews, as well as Test Equipment verification and validation to mitigate escape risk, as applicable.
  • Communicate effectively to Raytheon management and customers through business reviews and status meetings.
  • Drive quality activities and support as part of hardware management teams and participate in a cadence following up on quality initiatives and metrics
  • Ability to travel as required by program needs. Can anticipate domestic travel (Up to 50%) to support supplier assessments, audits, reviews. 25% of domestic travel is typical.
