About The Position

The Program Supervisor will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and scheduling the daily activities of recreation-related programs and facility events at Best Friend Park. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising staff, including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Health and Human Services, Senior Services, History, Education, or a closely related field
  • Two years' experience in a recreational setting
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and supporting full-time and part-time staff, including continual training for all staff
  • Communicating, developing, and enforcing guidelines, policies, and procedures in relation to facility user groups
  • Ensuring the safety of program participants and facility operations in respective areas of the County, as well as maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
  • Receiving and resolving complaints; publicizing programs and events; and interacting with user groups, the public, and volunteers involved in public relations
  • Completing and processing paperwork and permit requests, as well as preparing and maintaining various records and forms regarding program objectives, evaluations, rules, regulations, ordinances, and financial statuses
  • Handling daily operations, including facility maintenance oversight, cash handling, preparing, maintaining, and monitoring budgets and purchasing
  • Implementing and scheduling programming and special events for the facility, parks, pavilions, and athletic fields
  • Completing Civic Rec entries for camps, programs, and classes
  • Implementing and coordinating activities with internal and external departments to determine programming needs
  • Evaluating program objectives and marketing strategies
  • Advertising and communicating about upcoming programs and events in multi-media platforms, including outreach events
  • Handling the permitting of all rentals, including indoor/outdoor recreation, athletic, and pavilion facilities
  • Overseeing youth development programs, including camps and adventure days out
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level
  • Addressing coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc., in a public setting to express the department's missions and goals
  • Interacting with user groups, associations, and other agencies
