About The Position

This position exists to provide direct supervision for site interpretive staff and volunteers, develop site programming, coordinate the daily operations, and participate in community outreach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Three years experience working in education, program delivery, or program development or curriculum development, or equivalent
  • Experience creating, evaluating, and updating education curriculum and programming
  • Ability to perform moderate physical labor in order to keep the museum clean and safe
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time to perform programming responsibilities
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Valid driver's license
  • Supervising staff, including mentoring, performance management, hiring, and scheduling
  • Training staff on customer service and communicating program information
  • Delivering educational program content to diverse audiences
  • Synthesizing research findings into coherent themes and narratives
  • Thinking imaginatively and problem solving
  • Customer service and interpersonal communications skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Multitasking, working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, prioritizing and adapting to changing priorities
  • Working independently and taking individual initiative while also being able to collaborate effectively and contribute positively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision of program staff and support for interpretive program delivery
  • Support daily administrative operations of the Museum
  • Develop and implement interpretive programs, in various formats, that engage audiences of diverse ages, backgrounds, interests and learning styles, including research, format selection, scheduling, budgeting, publicity, delivery and evaluation
  • Serve as a liaison between all MNHS departments and external vendors that work in the Museum
  • Assist Site Manager with the development of annual and long-range planning
  • Represent the Mill City Museum Museum in the absence of or in lieu of the Site Manager
