About The Position

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Program Supervisor for the Commitment Oversight & Release Section (CORS). This section is responsible for ensuring transparency and collaboration in determining inmate placement, working with treatment and rehabilitation partners to meet individual needs while balancing victim and community safety concerns. The Program Supervisor will drive meaningful change for incarcerated individuals, improve outcomes in Montana communities, and shape placement decisions for offenders under DOC authority. This role involves setting the vision and direction for evaluating offender placements, assessing rehabilitation and reentry opportunities, and balancing victim concerns and public safety. The supervisor will collaborate with agency leaders, community partners, and policymakers to ensure high-quality, consistent services that meet regulatory standards and advance DOC priorities. Remote work may be allowed depending on the selected candidate's location.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with program management
  • Proficiency using Excel for tracking and reporting
  • Ability to provide effective leadership, vision and direction
  • Ability to provide clear communication and transparent processes to internal and external stakeholders
  • Five years of experience within in the Montana Department of Corrections

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to behavioral health, social services, criminology, human services or other occupationally related fields.
  • Supervisory and program management experience
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee statewide section making placement decisions for DOC committed offenders
  • Drive strategy, set goals, and measure outcomes to improve system-wide performance
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and consistency with policies and correctional best practices
  • Participate in the Institutional Screening process
  • Partner with DOC personnel and community partners
  • Ensure statutorily required court notifications are completed
  • Represent DOC with legislators, leadership, and the public
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals
