About The Position

This position is in Nursing Services, Miami VA Healthcare System, supporting Patient Care/Nursing Service. The Program Specialist assists with analysis, evaluation, and improvement of administrative and operational workflows that support organizational goals. The GS-9 assignment is developmental and is intended to build the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to work independently at the GS-11 full performance level. Assignments are initially narrower in scope and increase in complexity and independence as competency develops. The role provides direct support to operating managers in planning, organizing, and executing programs, projects, and tasks, including coordinating financial, human, equipment, and material resources. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Telework is described as both not authorized and eligible in different parts of the posting; the posting also states that this is not a virtual position. The work is primarily sedentary in a typical, possibly shared office within the hospital, a surrounding structure, or a Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The role may involve moving around the facility and light physical activity. Promotion to the GS-11 full performance level may occur without further competition when regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met; selection at a lower grade does not guarantee promotion.
