About The Position

The Specialist serves as the primary program facilitator, builds relationships with youth, parents/guardians, volunteers, schools, and community partners, and supports statewide Youth in Government programming in alignment with YMCA values. Requirements

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Two years of experience working with youth, civic engagement, education, leadership development, or related field.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree
Workshop facilitation and conference coordination experience
Knowledge of government processes.
Excellent facilitation, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to engage and mentor youth.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Implement the YMCA Youth in Government curriculum.
Facilitate workshops on government, leadership, debate, judicial processes, and civic engagement.
Create a positive learning environment.
Adapt instruction to participant needs.
Coach participants in leadership and communication.
Mentor delegates preparing legislative bills and judicial cases.
Promote civic responsibility and ethical leadership.
Prepare participants for the Model Legislative and Judicial Conference.
Coordinate registrations, logistics, and communications.
Supervise participants during conferences and events.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding schedules, expectations, and events.
Provide ongoing participant support.
Maintain attendance and participant records.
Assist with recruitment, enrollment, retention, reporting, and evaluation.
Collaborate with YMCA staff, schools, advisors, and volunteers.
Represent the YMCA Youth in Government program in the community.
Follow YMCA policies and child protection standards.
Maintain required certifications and trainings.
Participate in meetings and professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
