About The Position

This position serves as one of the supervisors in the Communications Unit in the Bureau’s Customer Call Center in the Bureau of Educator Certification, Division of Public School. Duties are advanced level and performed under the limited supervision of the Senior Education Program Director. The Communications unit is responsible for providing certification information, clarification, and advisement to teachers, school districts and the public. The Office Visitor Unit is responsible for mailing the Bureau’s correspondence, greeting Bureau office visitors and answering the multi-line console phone and appropriately directing calls.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Florida State Board of Education Rules and procedures governing issuance of Educator’s Certificates and renewal of certificates.
  • Knowledge of the application process.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal.
  • Ability to work and perform under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.
  • Ability to work independently and perform tasks and responsibilities with limited guidance and direction.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and organize information into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships across all levels of management.
  • Ability to use and analyze information from the management information system.
  • Ability to develop PowerPoint Presentations and communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software, such as Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Ability to organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
  • Ability to train and present material in a clear concise manner to large audiences.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the unit has available staff members appropriately assigned to cover vital services with the Communications Unit, including telephone calls, emails, office visitors, district requests, and routing supervisory review and callbacks.
  • Establishes and implements an audit/monitoring system of the services provided by the members of the unit in the Customer Call Center to ensure that information is provided in a logical, concise, and professional manner and that the information is accurate.
  • Conducts and utilizes monthly audits of work to assess necessity for additional training and areas of need.
  • Serves as the Bureau point-of-contact for cross training and historical leverage.
  • Maintains current certification resources for advertisement, reference, and training.
  • Serves as resource for technical advertisement.
  • Research complex certification issues.
  • Performs other duties as requested and assists the Unit Director as necessary.
