This position provides program support for the Student Basic Needs program at Portland Community College (PCC), reporting directly to the Program Dean of Student Basic Needs. The role supports the hiring of student leaders on sustainability initiatives and services that support students' basic needs, including Food Pantries, Food Justice Programming and Education, Transportation Access, Bike Programs, and Eco Social Justice Grants. The specialist will provide support for a broad range of activities and programs that further the goals of PCC’s student basic needs and sustainability initiatives, aiming to increase food security, health, and climate justice. Responsibilities may include tracking budgets, payroll, and hiring. The role involves assisting with programming events on campus, including logistics such as room, AV, and food arrangements, supporting student leadership training, potentially attending conferences as a student chaperone, and taking minutes at meetings. The specialist will also work with accounts payable, payroll, and FMS to contract and pay vendors, oversee assigned projects, and pay students, staff, or contractors. Daily and ongoing support will be provided to student leaders, work-study students, and casual employees. Excellent customer service skills are required for interacting with campus and community members, and general office management duties are also part of the role. Travel around the district is required.
