About The Position

This position performs intermediate-level work under the limited supervision of the Educational Program Director in the Office of Instructional Materials & Library Media, Bureau of Standards and Instructional Support, Division of Public Schools. Duties are performed using general guidelines and procedures. Requirements

  • Two to Four years of professional experience in education or related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to provide work samples of writing skills for grammar, editing and communication review upon request.

Responsibilities

  • Supports professional learning activities related to the Office of Instructional Materials and Library Media at the state and district levels.
  • Participates in professional learning for the enhancement of essential skills and content related to the Office of Instructional Materials and Library Media.
  • Maintains files and documentation; generate appropriate responses to information requests.
  • Assists with planning, developing, organizing and conducting training activities to district personnel and publishers in the use of the instructional materials online evaluation system and publisher database.
  • Provides technical assistance to district and departmental personnel on the instructional materials adoption process, as well as to publishers and depositories.
  • Supports the daily tasks and items of the state-adoption cycle review processes.
  • Supports coordination and oversight of the instructional materials contract and bid process, which includes:
  • Processing publishers’ bid deposits and fees, cash-in-lieu of bonds, and deposit returns required for publisher participation in the adoption process.
  • Tracking and reporting the deposits and fees, cash-in-lieu of bonds, deposit returns, and deposit forfeitures related to instructional materials adoptions to the Comptroller.
  • Preparing drafts of publisher contracts.
  • Supports coordination in the implementation and revision of the instructional materials adoption process.
  • Participates in professional development for the enhancement of position-related skills.
  • Assists and collaborates with agency or interagency personnel in the design and development of resources and strategies for implementation of instruction at the state and district levels.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and support of state curricular initiatives such as the Course Code Directory, Florida’s state academic standards, virtual instructional provider reviews, Florida’s Value-Added Models and instructional materials adoption.
  • Assists in the implementation of projects or initiatives led by interagency bureaus and teams including, but not limited to, the Division of Early Learning, Bureau of School Improvement, the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services, the Bureau of Student Achievement through Language Acquisition and the Bureau of K-12 Student Assessment.
  • Oversees the fidelity and implementation of benchmarks-aligned, high-quality instruction.
  • Ensures department compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Assists in the development and implementation of Florida State Board of Education Rules related to the Office of Instructional Materials and Library Media, and any necessary documents.
  • Drafts written reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
