About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Early Childhood & Family Support, Family and Community Health. This Program Specialist position oversees one or more of the evidence-based home visiting models within the Healthy Montana Families Home Visiting Program. The Program Specialist develops and administers statewide public health programs in response to state needs and federal grant solicitations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, health education, early childhood development/education or other behavioral or social science related field.
  • Two years of job related public health program experience including contracts and direct training experience.
  • Knowledge of public health program management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of public health interventions and quality improvement.
  • General knowledge of federal and state laws related to grants and contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience evaluating, developing, and writing grant responses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing evidence-based public health policies and interventions
  • Developing and implementing health surveillance and data collection systems to track, analyze and evaluate programs and services
  • Coordinating program strategic planning and facilitating stakeholder groups
  • Planning and coordinating program outreach, training and support
