The Program Security Officer (PSO) protects sensitive programs, personnel, capabilities, and operations by identifying security and counterintelligence risks and developing practical measures to mitigate them. The PSO works directly with operational teams, program leadership, security personnel, vendors, and other internal and external partners to integrate security into the planning and execution of current and future Files. This role requires a strong understanding of counterintelligence, operational security, threat assessment, investigations, and security risk management. The PSO must be able to evaluate incomplete or ambiguous information, identify vulnerabilities before they become problems, and provide practical recommendations that protect sensitive activities without unnecessarily limiting operational effectiveness.
