About The Position

Responsible for selling official racing programs to guests in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner. Ensures accurate cash handling, provides basic race day information, and contributes to a positive guest experience during live racing events. This is a seasonal position for the summer race meet at Colonial Downs.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse group of guests.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Dependability and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established procedures.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Virginia Racing Commission racing license.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior customer service or cash handling experience preferred.
  • Experience in sports, entertainment, or racing environments is a plus.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Sells official racing programs to guests at designated locations.
  • Provides excellent guest service by greeting guests, answering basic questions, and offering assistance as needed.
  • Accurately handles cash and/or electronic transactions in accordance with company cash handling procedures.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of racing programs and ensures selling stations are clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Balances cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift and reports discrepancies immediately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of racing schedules, program content, and general racetrack information to assist guests.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures related to guest service, cash handling, and security.
  • Assists with crowd flow and guest engagement in high-traffic areas during race days.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
