About The Position

Under the general direction of the Regional Director, this position will work to develop and expand programmatic efforts to benefit people served by Direct Relief’s domestic and international partner network. This position will develop/strengthen relationships with healthcare organizations to better understand localized health needs and optimize the mobilization of humanitarian medical resources. The Program Officer will act as the primary liaison for Direct Relief’s programs that span across multiple countries and focus on an array of initiatives. This individual will also look to build networks of healthcare providers, governments and international agencies to expand and streamline Direct Relief’s work. The Program Officer will also support aspects of specific projects and programs, including implementation, reporting, monitoring, and donor reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • At least two years of relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multifunctional team
  • Ability to work and interact with multiple senior level external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple competing interests/ tasks and prioritize accordingly
  • Have excellent organizational skills, be detail and task oriented
  • Excellent computer skills especially with Microsoft applications

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in business development preferred
  • SAP or similar ERP system experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the identification and assessment of healthcare provider partners eligible to receive specific products
  • Serve as primary liaison with healthcare organizations (“partners”) to understand and address localized health and medical needs
  • Assess partner needs for eligibility in receiving medicines, medical supplies and other strategic support
  • Understand the medical needs of partners to develop plans to place ongoing donations and determine frequency and volume of support
  • Perform business development functions including strategies to retain partners and provide excellent customer service
  • Recommend participation in other Direct Relief activities based on partner needs and strengths (maternal health, oncology, emergency preparedness, etc.)
  • Collect, record, and communicate information, including regular updates to staff about material support, trends, and insights on the partner network
  • Conduct periodic site visits
  • Maintain accurate account information about partners in the customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Monitor available medical supply inventory to place within the partner network
  • Manage the order fulfillment process to ensure that orders of medical material resources are processed and shipped in a timely manner and meet the expectations of the healthcare partners
  • Conduct needs assessments for specialty medications and manages appropriate resource allocation with consideration to patient population, capabilities, and humanitarian need
  • Manage and communicate distribution planning to ensure the shipping methods, speed, and care taken to get products to the partner
  • Schedule shipment activity based on geographic location and order preference
  • Support the Emergency Response Team and Logistics Team as needed
  • Assist with logistics decisions to optimize shipping processes and maximize efficiencies
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Team on developing standard operating procedures and documenting relevant processes
  • Represent Direct Relief at collaborative meetings, conferences, and other forums
  • Perform other duties to support the overall growth and development of the organization
