About The Position

Gilead is looking for a candidate to fill a 35-hour a week residential nursing role split between our Clinton, CT supported apartment program and Old Saybrook, CT adolescent residential program. The Program Nurse is responsible for ensuring and advocating for the well-being and stability of individuals through the support of non-medical staff members. The RN also oversees health-related medical care and pharmacological issues. Applicants must demonstrate competence in and knowledge of community treatment, psychopharmacology, and crisis intervention. Minimum Requirements: Must be a Registered Nurse, preferably with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program. Connecticut licensure for Registered Nurse required. Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing preferred. Five years of experience in the mental health and addictions field. Must maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Providing clinical knowledge regarding severe and prolonged mental health and substance abuse disorders as well as medical knowledge related to health and well-being
  • Supporting the Program Director in leading an effective program through clinical services and best practice models of care
  • Maintaining contact with MDs (i.e. psychiatrists, PCPs, specialists, etc.) to coordinate medical and psychiatric care of individuals
  • Working closely with pharmacies to facilitate proper pharmaceutical care
  • Providing guidance and peer-support regarding medical care in their respective program
  • Conducting Health Histories, Health Assessments, and medical evaluations of clients’ emergent medical issues
  • Making appropriate community referrals based on assessments and evaluations to meet clients’ basic health needs
  • Providing ongoing medical education to case managers informally and in training formats
  • Ensuring proper orientation, training, and management of the medication self-administration system
  • Completing all required documentation electronically and on paper in a timely manner
  • Acting with compassion, integrity, and ethics
