About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking an engineering leader for a critical opportunity supporting the U.S. Air Force's acquisition of the next-generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), the Sentinel weapon system. This is not a traditional administrative management role; we are seeking a "Player-Coach"—a technically proficient leader capable of performing deep-dive analysis and peer-reviewing complex technical content while simultaneously providing mentorship and administrative leadership to a high-performing team. Working at the intersection of technical execution and organizational leadership, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of systems engineers specializing in architecture and interface data management. You will serve as the primary technical liaison to USAF civilian and uniformed program managers, providing the Air Force with the confidence that all technical deliverables are rigorously analyzed and validated. You will operate within a digital engineering-driven culture, utilizing MBSE tools to shape the development and deployment of the national security-critical backbone of our nuclear deterrent capability. This role requires a leader who can pivot seamlessly from a high-level senior military briefing to a granular technical review of a system model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams where you were responsible for the technical integrity of the output.
  • Demonstrated experience producing and validating complex technical content for large-scale DoD programs.
  • A proactive, "team-first" mentality with a passion for mentoring junior engineers and challenging the status quo through collaborative brainstorming.
  • A balance of strategic vision and tactical execution; the ability to plan the roadmap and then help the team build it.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for high-stakes government environments.
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance and be eligible for all required Special Program accesses.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with the Sentinel or MMIII weapon systems.
  • Advanced technical prowess with Dassault’s Cameo or other MBSE tools (Rhapsody, etc.).
  • Specialized experience managing external interfaces for complex DoD weapon systems.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rigorous peer reviews of technical deliverables, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with program requirements.
  • Contribute directly to technical problem-solving and analysis, maintaining a high level of individual technical contribution.
  • Provide direct technical and administrative supervision for 8-10 personnel, focusing on professional development, performance management, and resource allocation.
  • Translate complex technical challenges into actionable briefings for senior military and government leadership.
