About The Position

The Lotus Group Care home is a resource providing 24-hour care and protection for youth, during periods of crisis and transition on a long-term treatment basis. This program targets youth 12 years of age and under. The program consists of in-home and out-of-home programming. Programming is designed to support youth who may be struggling with mild to moderate behavioral or emotional health during periods of crisis or transition. The typical duration of stay for the clients is based off of each individual child’s need, potentially short or long term care. The Program Manager is accountable for the overall operations of the support home. The Program Manager ensures the program is operating within the bounds of recognized standards and practices. The Program Manager oversees the administrative functioning of the program including budgeting, staff recruiting, hiring evaluating and terminating; and the maintenance of the assets needed in operating the physical buildings. The Program Manager provides leadership and guidance to the Youth Care Counsellors and Day Program Coordinator; is responsible for overall program development; and is accountable for the outcomes of the overall program. Hours of work – This position requires a flexible schedule to ensure the needs of the Program are met. This will include 8am-4pm shifts as well as evenings, awake nights and weekends when required. 24 hour on-call is a requirement of this role.

Requirements

  • Degree or 2 Year Diploma in Child and Youth Care, or related human services field.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Driver’s Abstract
  • Clear Criminal Records Check
  • Clear Children’s Service Intervention Record Check.
  • Vehicle Insurance stating $2 million liability and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Overall operations of the support home.
  • Ensuring the program is operating within the bounds of recognized standards and practices.
  • Overseeing the administrative functioning of the program including budgeting, staff recruiting, hiring, evaluating and terminating.
  • Maintenance of the assets needed in operating the physical buildings.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the Youth Care Counsellors and Day Program Coordinator.
  • Overall program development.
  • Accountable for the outcomes of the overall program.
  • Responsible for the disbursement, recording, and accounting of funds for daily operations of the program; including approval of charge accounts expenditures and gathering of pertinent materials.
  • Directly involved in the recruiting, hiring, training and terminating of all program staff.
  • Ensuring that all personnel procedures are in accordance with provincial laws and agency practices.
  • Establishing staff schedules accounting for the needs of the program within the legal parameters of hours of work, overtime, and statutory holiday legislation.
  • Maintaining complete and current knowledge of accepted practices and procedures of the support home and agency, and to carry out and monitor appropriate action.
  • Participating in an annual program evaluation.
  • Having an understanding of all laws, regulations and standards that pertain to the operations of residential programs and ensuring that all programs are operated within those bounds.
  • May be delegated other responsibilities at the discretion of the Executive Director.
  • Attending and participating in regular personal supervision, and in an annual performance evaluation.
  • Providing regular supervision to Youth Care Counsellors and Day Program Coordinator in order to expand their skills and improve performance.
  • Leading the process in performing objective and factually based staff evaluations.
  • Delegating responsibilities to Youth Care Counsellors and Day Program Coordinator as per job description and performance objectives.
  • Responding to after-hours calls from staff.
  • Actively participating in identifying, developing and implementing community services that would meet the needs of the persons served.
  • Liaising with community partners to ensure positive working relationships are maintained.
  • Creating a safe, supporting relationship and environment with individuals of varying abilities.
  • Implementing creativity and initiative in establishing a service directed at supporting individuals in reaching their self-identified goals.
  • Modeling appropriate relationship building, professional boundaries, leadership and effective written and verbal communication in all interactions and settings.
  • Understanding the importance of being an advocate for clients, and will advocate on behalf of the agency in all situations.
