About The Position

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast is seeking a high-functioning, energetic, organized, and committed professional to fill the critical role of Program Manager. This position supports the General Manager with program operations, ensuring policies and procedures are in place. The Program Manager will assess program execution, provide feedback for improvement, and act as an extra set of eyes to troubleshoot problems. This role involves providing support, on-the-job coaching, and leading by example for site staff. The Program Manager may be required to step into a group to cover staffing shortages and will manage volunteers, including screening, interviewing, processing, and exiting. In the absence of the General Manager, the Program Manager will report to the full-time leadership on site and must respect the chain of command.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 48 college units, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of one year work experience in non-profit/out of school time programming.
  • A track record of developing talent, coaching and mentoring people, developing and implementing strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate Impact; in personnel supervision, the recruitment and retention of key personnel; facilities management; and budget management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with a variety of constituencies, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, tact and willingness to take initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office-based computer programs.
  • Must report suspected child abuse in accordance with California law.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Have a drive to work with a diverse group of students from different socio-economic backgrounds and levels of educational preparedness.
  • This position may require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, or reach as needed, and to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. Employees must have the dexterity, coordination, vision, and hearing necessary to perform job tasks safely and accurately.

  • Time management, planning, and organization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR & Basic First Aid certified preferred (provide proof upon interview).
  • Proof of negative TB Test valid within the past 3 years from hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a safe environment through learning, implementation, and monitoring of safety best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to safety rules, and proactive communication.
  • Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.
  • Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols.
  • Provide feedback to the General Manager for the professional development and coaching plans for each Mentor Professional, maintaining up-to-date files with SMART goals.
  • Conduct observations and one-on-ones with the General Manager to provide feedback to Mentor Professionals.
  • Work with the General Manager to ensure alignment of goals between the Club and Mentor Professionals.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly facility checklists are completed by Mentor Professionals.
  • Communicate program/facility updates to Mentor Professionals and ensure new policies and procedures are executed.
  • Communicate program/facility concerns to the General Manager, along with proactive solutions.
  • Manage the onboarding and management of volunteers.
  • Report volunteer hours and impact to the General Manager and corporate office.
  • Cultivate volunteer relationships and recognition.
  • Monitor member attendance daily to ensure attendance targets are met.
  • Communicate with the General Manager if attendance trends drop below target.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to implement strategies to recruit and retain members.
  • Work with the Front Desk/General Manager to ensure all items are correctly entered under the appropriate general ledger code.
  • Support the preparation of weekly deposits.
  • Update community boards and content.
  • Intentionally strengthen relationships with parents by being present during dismissal.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
