ANCHORAGE COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES INAnchorage, AK
$56,000 - $58,100Onsite

About The Position

The journey to mental health recovery and wellness has many twists and turns, challenges and opportunities. It can be intimidating and overwhelming. Some who need care never seek it. Some quit before they get started. At Alaska Behavioral Health we are ready to change that. We want every person who needs and wants help to get the care they need. Our Peer Support Specialists are key team members who make that possible. Unlike traditional mental health providers, they do not sit behind desks or in offices and wait for client to be sent to them, they meet clients at our front doors, welcome them into care and get them access to the services they need. Unlike traditional receptionists, they are also certified health care providers, who also provide direct care and are a critical member of our integrated health care team, walking with the client throughout the treatment process. It’s outside the box – but it is what works. If you think this is the right role for you….. Our mission is to strengthen Alaska communities and improve the lives of our clients by delivering exceptional behavioral healthcare services. We believe all Alaskans, with all mental health and addiction needs should have access to the best possible care. We are proud to be part of a dedicated team committed to increasing access to mental health care and changing the lives of our clients for the better. Our Peer Drop-in Center in Anchorage is located at 1231 Gambell Street, on the second floor. The lounge is open Monday – Friday, 8 am to 3 pm and is staffed by peer support specialists. The drop-in center offers showers, laundry, food, and regular skill development and therapy groups to help clients practice life skills, coping skills, and address substance use. Peer support specialists are available to help with case management needs, and clinicians are available for scheduled or crisis appointments. Psychiatry and primary care are available on-site by appointment. The center is open to current Alaska Behavioral Health clients, and those who are interested in engaging in services and becoming clients.
