About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Adult & Youth Literacy, this position is responsible for the management, development, scheduling, marketing, implementation, and oversight of all activities of the Youth GED Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Three years of experience in youth education or youth GED programs.
  • Ability to collaborate and use creative, solutions-oriented approach to address problems through teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to develop working relationships with students, instructors, staff, and outside agencies.
  • Knowledge of industry for assigned program areas and ability to develop and manage educational programs.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse student population.
  • Must be computer literate with ability to utilize Microsoft Office at an intermediate level and the ability to learn and utilize specific higher education programs and systems.
  • Ability to learn and apply office practices, procedures, policies, and regulations that are essential to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in a second language is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of all program curriculum that is aligned with the goals and objectives of the Youth GED Program.
  • Schedule and facilitate selective professional development workshops for Youth GED Program staff and instructors.
  • Oversee the analysis and development of appropriate alternative locations for course delivery.
  • Manage and implement the time, date, and location of all programs and schedules.
  • Hire and onboard instructors including approval of timesheets. At least annually observe instructors and provide feedback to them and the Director.
  • Oversee ordering of supplies and equipment for all program areas.
  • Schedule and facilitate monthly staff meetings.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned to ensure effective operation and continuous improvement of the Youth GED Program.
  • Manage program compliance, assessment, regulatory requirements and credentialing.
  • Oversee and manage all required compliance documentation for the Youth GED Program.
  • Meet program requirements as mandated by federal and state guidelines.
  • Meet grant requirements for number of students served and budget maintenance.
  • Monthly monitoring of student progress including feedback conversations and corrective action plans when needed.
  • Provide weekly updates on program enrollment, attendance and educational gain numbers, status of ongoing programs, staffing issues and other matters relating to the smooth running of the Youth GED Program to the Director of Adult & Youth Literacy.
  • Provide leadership and assistance as needed to ensure program compliance.
  • Work with appropriate deans and department chairs to develop credit/non-credit collaborations, and opportunities for credit for prior learning.
  • Coordinate with the Educational Partnerships office to facilitate points of contact within area high schools.
  • Collaborate with Office of Grant Development to ensure grant proposals are completed and submitted as required by the funder.
  • Research and pursue additional grant opportunities.
  • Implement the resolution of student grievances, problems or complaints noting patterns that may indicate a need for systemic change.
  • Build relationships with community agencies, professionals locally and statewide, and the Monmouth County Workforce Development Board, to keep abreast of training needs, trends, and legislative initiatives. Oversee the development of appropriate programs to meet identified needs.
  • Participate in College-wide initiatives.
  • Provide marketing oversight and outreach to support program implementation.
  • Manage and update website content and marketing materials to ensure information remains accurate, current, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Build and maintain community relationships including collaborating with the Monmouth County Workforce Development Board to support post-secondary opportunities.
