About The Position

HealthCorps is launching a new initiative in West Virginia focused on making our youth healthier while exposing them to healthcare careers, through club programming, campus events, field trips, professional panels, and individualized career coaching. We're looking for an organized, resourceful program manager who thrives on execution and knows how to turn a plan into a great experience for kids. As Program Manager - Workforce Development, you'll own the day-to-day delivery of the career exposure components of this initiative, working alongside our core Teens Make Health Happen clubs. You'll coordinate closely with our national Curriculum team to bring healthcare career content to life in West Virginia clubs, plan and execute career exposure events, and help keep the career assessment and coaching process running smoothly for our students. This is very much a build-it year, and your focus will be on the West Virginia program. At the same time, the work you do here is expected to contribute to HealthCorps' national footprint in workforce development, and over time, this role is expected to take on more of that national scope. You will report to the Program Director of Appalachia.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant experience.
5+ years of relevant program management experience.
Experience in youth services, health education, workforce development, or university/community partnerships.
Based in West Virginia or close enough to travel throughout the state regularly.
A proven track record of getting things done: organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing many moving pieces and deadlines at once.
Comfortable with outbound, relationship-building outreach: reaching out to a local provider, following up until a panel is confirmed, and building trust with new community partners over time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Passion for connecting young people, especially in rural communities, to real possibilities for their futures.
Sharp attention to detail: trackers, spreadsheets, and follow-through stay tidy and current even when a lot of things are moving at once.
A self-starter mindset, comfortable building processes and relationships from scratch rather than stepping into an established system.
Ability to balance many concurrent deliverables in a fast-moving, growth-stage environment.
Strong logistics and event-planning instincts.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Claude and Canva.
Ability to travel extensively throughout West Virginia; valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute campus-wide health career exposure events across partner schools, recruiting clinicians, allied health professionals, and other guest speakers for panels, demos, and hands-on stations.
Organize field trips to postsecondary and career settings, including college campuses, technical centers, and healthcare facilities, handling logistics such as transportation, school approvals, and site coordination.
Manage the practical, on-the-ground work of getting career exposure to happen: making calls, confirming guests, arranging buses, and troubleshooting when plans change.
Track delivery against grant milestones (events delivered, students reached, field trips completed) and maintain accurate activity logs.
Partner with HealthCorps' national Curriculum and M&E team to make sure healthcare career content is being delivered consistently across all West Virginia club sites.
Work with Regional Program staff and near-peer mentor facilitators to bring career content to life in weekly club sessions, and support the Curriculum team in shaping and strengthening that content over time.
Flag gaps or opportunities to strengthen career content delivery and share them with the Curriculum team.
Help coordinate the individualized career assessment and coaching process for students selected for deeper career pathway support.
Support student identification, scheduling, and logistics so the coaching experience runs smoothly for students and families.
Work alongside the local program management team to build and maintain relationships with local hospitals, clinics, universities, and individual healthcare professionals who want to engage with students.
Cultivate a growing bench of guest speakers, panelists, and field trip hosts across the West Virginia footprint.
Represent HealthCorps at school and community events connected to the career exposure program.
Maintain program activity logs, trackers, and documentation needed for grant reporting deadlines.
Support the Program Director of Appalachia in preparing milestone reports tied to this program.
Contribute to workforce development efforts across the organization as HealthCorps builds out this work nationally.
