About The Position

Eversource is seeking a Program Manager, Strategic Project Development to contribute to the advancement of Major and Strategic Projects within the Company’s Massachusetts Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP) throughout Transmission. This role involves implementing cross-functional leadership and executing on the Capital Plan while adhering to core business synergies. The position will focus on implementing comprehensive strategies for advancing early-stage development for a portfolio of strategic transmission and substation projects, including internal organization and analytics, and supporting external stakeholder relationship building. The Program Manager will collaborate with various departments such as System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Engagement and Equity, Regulatory, Procurement, Legal, Scheduling, and Project Management. This role reports to the Manager of Strategic Project Development and works closely with the Director of Strategic Project Development.

Requirements

  • Project management experience required
  • Ability to develop and present reports within the organization
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple subject matters, such as permitting, engineering, real estate, interconnection, finance, community engagement
  • Understanding of onshore development of electric infrastructure projects, such as solar or wind
  • Ability to take in multidisciplinary pieces of early-stage project development and make decisions in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences internally and externally
  • Demonstrated interest in ongoing learning and process improvement
  • Interest in progressing the State’s electrification efforts in advancement of Massachusetts’ clean energy and climate goals
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical (i.e., engineering, environmental, communication, renewable energy ), business discipline, related degree or equivalent experience will be considered
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience
  • Valid Driver’s license is required

Nice To Haves

  • Masters, law, or other advanced qualifications desirable
  • Experience developing competitive infrastructure projects and knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of a portfolio of strategic ESMP transmission and substation projects from early-stage development to hand off to Project Management Organization.
  • Oversee a cross-functional project team including System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Legal, Project Management, Engagement, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to establish and organize an ongoing development plan.
  • Ensure that all strategic solutions are vetted in a manner consistent with the Company’s safety and procurement policies and programs.
  • Develop schedules and budget of ESMP strategic projects in early-stage development and is responsible for the implementation, prior to execution.
  • Support development and documentation of Company Policies related to development and execution of strategic transmission projects addressing items such as feasibility, planning, siting, permitting, construction, etc.
  • Focus on both internal and external collaboration.
  • Maintain familiarity with current and upcoming Policies and Programs that could facilitate Transmission Development.
  • Develop metrics by which to evaluate the success of transmission projects and continues to track project-level and ESMP program progress.
  • Collaborate with other Program Managers and Senior Program Managers within Strategic Project Development team when needed.
  • Facilitate discussions with key stakeholders to assure alignment and key information exchange to advance Strategic Transmission Projects.
  • Assist with representing Eversource Transmission on committees, groups, associations, or other efforts consistent with Strategic Projects.
  • Assist with representing Eversource Transmission at public meetings, regulatory hearings, town hall meetings, and any special meetings that may occur.
  • Ensure Manager and Director of Strategic Project Development are briefed regularly on the status of job responsibilities for the development of strategic projects and status of action items.
