This role analyzes data pertinent to service areas to identify opportunities for improvement based on internal goals, external/internal benchmarking, industry standards, and payor/external regulatory rating systems. The position interprets and reports data from multiple sources for comparison, benchmarking, and performance assessment, and independently seeks out appropriate and timely benchmark data. The Program Manager monitors data for criteria selected to evaluate clinical care and patient safety, and is able to develop reports from multiple sources to assure data is accurate and actionable for system improvement or reflective of issues being addressed. This role serves as a liaison between stakeholders (e.g., clinical leaders, physicians, payers, and Health Information Technology) to assure accurate data elements for reporting are identified to maximize reporting effectiveness and utilization. The Program Manager manages performance and process improvement projects across the system, utilizing PI tools proficiently to optimize outcomes, break down complex processes and workflows to understand areas for improvement, minimize waste, and decrease errors. They identify, communicate, and engage with key stakeholders required to address issues, moving projects forward according to defined goals and timelines, and identifying action steps required when goals are not achieved. The role acts as a consultant for activities pertaining to various regulatory and/or accreditation requirements, encompassing tasks such as document provision, participation in discussions, and offering survey chaperone support. They create supportive tools as needed to monitor performance and develop proactive approaches to enhance quality, safety, and outcomes, and engage executive leaders in development and integration. The Program Manager maintains an expert/leader level of competence in current Quality concepts, tools, and performance measurements. They serve as a mentor/preceptor for new or less experienced staff to develop and maintain competence/expertise for other Quality team/organization staff members. The role consistently looks for and uses opportunities to network, compare outcomes, and communicate both successes and opportunities for improvement. They effectively use a wide variety of settings and formats to share outcomes, ideas, and action plans, including both formal and informal presentations, written materials, and media/tools (Power Point, bulletin boards, flyers, newsletters) to inform and educate staff, medical staff, and the community about local Quality achievements, initiatives, and priorities. The role also performs other duties as assigned.
