About The Position

This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies (HII-MT) Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII-MT. The SkillBridge intern will train as an All Domain Operations (ADO) Program Manager within the HII Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated Mission Technologies Program Manager, with the primary goal of learning program management principles, technologies, and core operational functions, as well as the roles and responsibilities of program/project management within a civilian contracting firm. A secondary goal is to achieve a cross-organizational understanding of how industry works. Intern also will be assigned special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service.
  • Applications accepted within final 12-months of active-duty US Military service.
  • Transitioning US military service member with program/project experience and technical background.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • TS/SCI w/CI Poly preferred.
  • If hired post-Skillbridge internship, DIA Security Nomination Package to include in-scope CI polygraph is required to be approved.

Nice To Haves

  • Min 10 years of relevant experience with most recent experience within last 2 years.
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree. Addl 4 years of experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership.
  • Learn program management principles, technologies, and core operational functions.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of program/project management within a civilian contracting firm.
  • Achieve a cross-organizational understanding of how industry works.
  • Be assigned special projects as needed.
  • Describe core functions of program management.
  • Gain a basic knowledge of software technologies, government contracting procedures, managing program operations to ensure production schedules are met, system resources are utilized efficiently and effectively, and proper relationships are established between customers.
  • Gain a functional understanding of schedule, performance, and risk identification / mitigation on initiatives including but not limited to systems, tools, equipment, software, facilities and other activities.
  • Be oriented to profit and loss of a large complex program.
  • Be trained on all phases of programs from inception through completion.
  • Support a program contained at one primary geographic location however covering remote locations and multiple business functions and employees directly assigned to program.
  • Be trained on processes to track cost, schedule and technical performance of company programs.
  • Coordinate resolutions to production-related problems.
  • Study SOFA regulations and processes for Korea operations; understand bilateral ROK-US environment and cultural considerations; review compliance requirements for personnel and operations in theater.
  • Network and be introduced to senior leadership within the All Domain Operations (ADO) Business Group.
