About The Position

The NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs / Military Affairs Division is tasked with 23 specific functions that involve working with federal, state, local, regional, and industry partners to support activities at North Carolina military installations and improve economic outcomes and the quality of life for our military and veteran communities. The NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs / Veterans Affairs Division, in accordance with Chapter 143, General Statues of North Carolina – assists Veterans, their families, and their dependents in obtaining or maintaining privileges, rights, and benefits to which they are entitled under Federal State or Local laws. This is an anticipated vacancy for a Program Manager I. The Program Manager I has direct oversight of four (4) cemetery superintendents and provides strategic directions for all state veterans cemeteries under the general guidance of the NC DMVA Secretary, and Chief Deputy Secretary. The role involves developing and implementing DMVA policies and programs dedicated to cemetery operations, organizing, directing, and conducting joint outreach programs with Federal, State, and Non-Profit agencies, and collaborating with DMVA stakeholders for budget planning and financial management for the state cemeteries. The position also includes collecting and analyzing data to evaluate program effectiveness, preparing reports and presentations, and providing information, interpreting, and explaining departmental rules, regulations, and procedures to state cemetery support staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of program experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the state cemetery program
  • Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and government officials
  • Provides the Agency and Counties with publications, forms, and reference data
  • Provide information, interpret, and explain departmental rules, regulations, and procedures to state cemetery support staff
