About The Position

The Program Manager I is responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects of the 4th-year elective and subinternship programs at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. This role involves coordinating with faculty, students, and external institutions to ensure the smooth operation of the programs, managing schedules, and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, healthcare administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in an administrative role within a medical education setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and educational software.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and requirements for medical education programs.
  • Ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
  • Cannot be a current CDU Student.
  • Must comply with current CDU COVID-19 requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with program management and coordination of student services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the scheduling and administration of 4th-year elective and subinternship rotations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and external institutions regarding elective and subinternship opportunities.
  • Ensure all program activities comply with university policies and accreditation standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of student placements, evaluations, and feedback.
  • Facilitate communication between students and faculty regarding program requirements and expectations.
  • Organize orientation sessions and informational meetings for students and faculty.
  • Monitor student progress and provide support as needed to ensure successful completion of rotations.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation for accreditation and program review purposes.
  • Administer the collection, updating, and approval process for each elective and subinternship syllabus and course requirement.
  • Solicit evaluations from the corresponding faculty in a timely manner that meets LCME standards.
  • Participate in the onboarding administrative needs of the students at the designated sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
