About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS) aims to address food insecurity across the entirety of King County. The Food Access team at YGS, alongside other internal and external partners, works collectively to provide our communities with resources and programs that are relevant and culturally affirming. Our suite of Food Access programs and resources includes: Food Pantries Community Meals Grocery “Rescue” Meal Kit/ Produce Box/ Backpack distribution Federal Nutrition Programming (CACFP/ SFSP) Advocacy and collaboration with community partners The Program Manager, Food Access, will play a crucial role in this team by supporting the in-person coordination and execution of our community-facing Food Access programs. This includes our community meal sites, meal kit/produce box distribution, and occasional support for our other programs. They will also provide back-end administrative support to ensure that their assigned programs run effectively, are in compliance, and truly meet the needs of community members. As our programming is county-wide, this role will require someone who has access to transportation and can reliably make it to assigned job sites. The Program Manager will also work collaboratively with the rest of the Food Access team, other YMCA teams, and our community partners to support YGS’ overall mission and work.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years or more of relevant experience. Working with children, families, community programs and/or hunger response/ food systems programs.
  • Strong customer service skills, responding to multiple questions by phone, email and in person.
  • Ability to problem solve and resolve conflict.
  • Strong computer skills and experience working with word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and confidentiality of evaluative information.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment such as copiers and phone systems.
  • Current state approved first-aid certification.
  • Current state approved infant/child (or community if school aged) CPR certification.
  • Current Food Safety Handlers Card
  • At hire, or earliest possible training (but no later than 90 days after employment).

Nice To Haves

  • College degree. Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
  • Three (3) years or more of demonstrated experience in program development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver high-quality hunger response programs that focus on creating equity and justice for all
  • Maintains professional relationships with families, facility personnel and the community. May plan and conduct events.
  • Can create and shop for supply lists to meet program demands while adhering to budget and financial procedures.
  • Maintains required records according to YMCA standards.
  • Compiles program statistics and provides reports as required for assigned programs. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  • Ensures that safety procedures are followed and that all programs are in compliance with YMCA best practices and any other applicable standards.
  • May assist with developing and monitoring department budgets.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
