About The Position

The DME Program Manager supports Access Alaska, Inc.'s Independent Living mission of empowering individuals experiencing disabilities to live independently and interdependently within the community of their choice. This position provides leadership and administrative support to the daily operations of the Durable Medical Equipment (DME), Independent Living Advocacy, and Consumer Directed Personal Care Services (CDPCS) departments. Requirements

  • High school or general education development (GED) diploma.
  • Credentialing/Specialized training general mechanical/electrical/plumbing.
  • 5 years of small equipment repair and maintenance.
  • 3 years of management and supervision of employees.
  • Ability to read diagrams.
  • Ability to utilize basic hand tools, for example: wrenches, screwdrivers, battery drills, saws, etc.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools, word processing and data entry skills.
  • Successful completion of a State of Alaska and federal name- and fingerprint-based criminal background check prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Maintaining eligibility to work under the applicable approval status and comply with all renewal requirements mandated by state regulations.
  • Initiating and completing recertification at least forty-five (45) days prior to the expiration date of the current approval.
  • Maintaining a current and valid background check approval.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the efficient operation of the Durable Medical Equipment Store, including inventory management, equipment sanitation and maintenance, staff supervision, and customer service.
  • Collaborating with consumers, community partners, healthcare providers, and internal staff to facilitate access to durable medical equipment and independent living support.
  • Receiving donated equipment, completing minor repairs, sanitizing/cleaning, maintaining durable medical equipment, documenting work activities, and maintaining equipment inventory.
  • Safely using general repair hand tools and a specialized sanitizing and cleaning machine known as a Hub Scrub.
  • Working outside in various weather conditions.
  • Completing minor construction and repair work.
  • Assuring accurate purchasing, repair, and inventory records.
  • Ensuring quality customer service, compliance with program requirements, accurate recordkeeping, and effective communication with consumers, families, employees, and community stakeholders.
  • Protecting and maintaining the confidentiality of customers' health information and following standard operation procedures to ensure compliance with HIPAA.
  • Promoting person-centered services, regulatory compliance, and quality program outcomes while fostering connections that support the physical, emotional, and economic well-being of individuals experiencing disabilities.
  • Serving as a resource to consumers and staff, advocating for consumer choice and self-determination, and working to expand opportunities for community integration and independent living.
  • Maintaining regular, reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Oversight and supervision of Program Support Specialist working in DME, IL, and CDPCS Departments.
  • Being assigned additional duties and responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of this position, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in responding to operational, programmatic, staffing, and organizational needs while supporting the mission and goals of Access Alaska, Inc. These duties may include temporary assignments, special projects, committee participation, training, community outreach, and coverage of essential functions as needed.
