The Program Manager, Design Automation and Tools is responsible for the daily management of all elevator product design, design drawing tools and models, and process compliance. The position will engage and be a critical link in the project life cycle, driving engineering execution, delivery, and innovation in the areas of product design and automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or other directly related field of study plus 60 months (5 years) of experience in the offered position or other closely related positions. Experiences may be concurrent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition of products from concept into Application Engineering customer facing design deliverables for all low and mid-rise elevator products.
  • Implement and maintain Application Engineering product configuration models for offer and order processing for Schindler Elevator products.
  • Monitor existing engineering drawings and design tools to make sure they continue to perform at optimal levels of efficiency.
  • Design, modify, or apply components and systems using engineering methods and techniques to meet specified technical objectives.
  • Manage on-time performance of all Application Engineering design deliverables (product launch, CP release, Change Request implementation, global initiatives).
  • Continuously evaluate and measure engineering drawing tool performance. Monitor existing engineering tools to make sure they continue to perform at optimal levels of efficiency. Represent Application Engineering to cross-functional development teams during efficiency and new tool development initiatives.
  • Direct lower classified engineers and technical support personnel to carry out specific design tasks.
  • Implement defect prevention procedures or processes in product design or application.
  • Provide unique product design solutions to complex safety, performance, cost, reliability, and maintainability problems requiring research, technical analysis, creativity, and experience.
  • Provide effective task and process planning and implementation to accomplish specified technical objectives on time.
  • Prepare and conduct technical training for own department.
  • Coordination with Sales, Field Superintendents, project leads (in HQ and field), program/product line teams, research and development and engineers, managers within department teams.
