About The Position

The main purpose of this position is to manage, evaluate, direct, coordinate, administer and supervise the Chronic Disease Prevention Program, which consists of 15 full-time and 1 part-time positions, comprising professional nurses, community health educators, paraprofessionals and secretarial staff, in fulfilling the mission of the Health Department, which is to preserve, promote and protect the health and well-being of all people by advancing health equity in Anne Arundel County. This position will provide oversight for programmatic areas including the Cancer Screening Services (CSS) program, healthy eating education (including obesity prevention), cancer and tobacco-use prevention (including tobacco cessation and tobacco enforcement), Cardiovascular Disease Risk Prevention (including diabetes and hypertension) and management of online health education resources.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience as a Community Health Nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity or one year of experience as a Community Health Nurse and two years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a Registered Nurse.
  • A current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A reliable personal vehicle and automobile insurance coverage.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift 25 pounds.
