Program Manager, Apple Health

AppleCupertino, CA

About The Position

Apple Health is looking for a world-class program manager with deep experience coordinating complex, multi-workstream programs across technical, design, clinical, legal, operations, business, and partner teams. This role requires someone who can bridge very different disciplines from software engineering and design to healthcare delivery. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker, clear communicator, and collaborator who is strategic, proactive, and highly organized. Success in this role depends on stakeholder management, leading through influence and ambiguity, and delivering results in a complex, collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of experience as an engineering or technical program manager
  • Experience managing projects of all sizes, including large, complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Expertise in crafting project timelines, work breakdown structures, and resource planning across multiple functional teams
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity to clarify objectives and execution plans
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Experience launching healthcare products
  • Knowledge of and experience with project management methodologies and tools
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence others
  • Track record of defining processes and implementing them

Responsibilities

  • Own the integrated program plan across all workstreams, maintaining POR, key decisions, schedule, dependency maps, milestone tracking, risk registers, and escalation paths across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Navigate gate-based approval and readiness processes.
  • Drive alignment and accountability across teams without direct authority, influencing through clarity, trust, and consistent follow-through.
  • Serve as the primary communication hub — translating across engineering, design, clinical, legal, business, partner, and operations, and producing crisp program updates for working teams and leadership.
  • Manage competing priorities across stakeholders — making clear recommendations on where to invest program energy and when to push back when requests conflict with program goals.
  • Coordinate across product, engineering, design, and platform teams through full development cycles — from design reviews and sprints through QA, release, and post-launch operations.
  • Design and run program rituals and ceremonies: planning sessions, cross-functional syncs, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Build and maintain program infrastructure from scratch where needed: shared trackers, frameworks, decision logs, and documentation.
  • Proactively identify program risks - ideally before they become risks, and raise them to program leadership.
  • Own critical program issues end-to-end, from identification to resolution - refusing to let problems sit in the areas between teams.
  • Develop executive presentations on the state of the program as well as when it is needed to synthesize complex information to come to agreement on a complicated cross-functional program risk or open.
  • Drive team clarity in cross-functional meetings and executive reviews; this will require deeply understanding and representing the perspective of different functions.
  • Bring structure when the program is in flux - quickly standing up the right forums, assembling the right people, framing the problem clearly, to help teams evaluate options, make commitments, and drive to a decision even when the path forward is unclear or politically complex.
