About The Position

BGC Okanagan is currently hiring casual Program Leaders to support their School-Age Childcare programs at various clubs in Kelowna and West Kelowna, BC. These programs provide safe, engaging environments where children can play, create, and connect after school. The organization offers a positive, supportive team culture and ongoing paid professional development.

Requirements

• Education in childcare and/or experience planning, implementing and evaluating childcare programs.
• One (1) year recent related experience.
• First Aid Certificate and Food Safe or willingness to obtain.
• Class 5 Driver’s Licence and willingness to obtain Class 4.
• Must be at least 19 years of age as per licensing requirements.
• Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents and refugees in Canada with legal status).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and participate in quality and diverse recreational, social, and/or educational programming.
• Orient new families and members to the program and club.
• Provide direct supervision of members, and ensure their health, safety, and wellness.
• Mentor, guide and lead Activity Leaders within the program and activities.
• Build relationships with the children, youth, and families within their designated programs. Establish open communication with parents/caregivers.
• Use Club vans to pick up members from school and transport to various sites if required.
• Prepare nutritious snacks and meals for members.
• Provide group and/or individual behaviour management and support.
• Ensure Agency Policies and Procedures, Program Operating Standards, WCB standards, Community Care Licensing Regulations, Risk Management requirements and general safety standards are met.
