About The Position

BGC Okanagan is hiring a part-time Program Leader to support our School Age Childcare program at the North Glenmore Club in Kelowna, BC. This role is responsible for creating safe, engaging spaces where children can play, create, and connect after school. The Program Leader will develop, implement, and participate in quality recreational, social, and educational programming, orient new families, provide direct supervision of members, and ensure their health, safety, and wellness. They will also mentor Activity Leaders, build relationships with children and families, transport members using Club vans, prepare snacks and meals, provide behavior management support, and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • Education in childcare and/or experience planning, implementing and evaluating childcare programs.
  • One (1) year recent related experience
  • First Aid Certificate and Food Safe or willingness to obtain
  • Class 5 Driver’s Licence and willingness to obtain Class 4
  • Must be at least 19 years of age as per licensing requirements
  • Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents and refugees in Canada with legal status).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and participate in quality and diverse recreational, social, and/or educational programming.
  • Orients new families and members to the program and club.
  • Provide direct supervision of members, and ensure their health, safety, and wellness.
  • Mentors, guides and leads Activity Leaders within the program and activities.
  • Build relationships with the children, youth, and families within their designated programs. Establishes open communication with parents/caregivers.
  • Use Club vans to pick up members from school and transport to various sites if required.
  • Prepare nutritious snacks and meals for members.
  • Provides group and/or individual behaviour management and support.
  • Ensures Agency Policies and Procedures, Program Operating Standards, WCB standards, Community Care Licensing Regulations, Risk Management requirements and general safety standards are met.
