About The Position

Pilot Company is seeking a Retail Financial Planning & Analysis Intern to join their team in Knoxville, TN, for the summer of 2027. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping company-wide financial processes, driving efficiency and accuracy in forecasting and budgeting. The intern will be an integral part of the Retail Finance team and their work will directly impact the company's strategic direction by evolving and improving forecasting and budgeting processes, driving report simplification and efficiency initiatives, and supporting value tracking, realization, and business case planning. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in a dynamic, high-impact environment.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
Rising seniors are highly preferred.
Strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with Tableau or Power BI is highly valued.
Ability to effectively communicate complex analyses and insights to business partners and senior leaders.
Candidates should be comfortable using data to tell a compelling story and presenting information to non-technical audiences.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across functions.
Success in this role requires collaboration, curiosity, initiative, and a proactive approach to solving problems.

Responsibilities

Drive reporting efficiency: Identify opportunities to simplify reporting, streamline processes, and improve the effectiveness of financial insights delivered across the organization.
Support value realization and strategic planning: Assist with value tracking, realization, and business case development by leveraging financial analysis and data-driven insights to measure impact and support decision-making.
Leverage analytics and visualization tools: Utilize Tableau, Excel, and other analytical tools to retrieve, analyze, and present financial and operational data to stakeholders.
Partner across the business: Collaborate with teams across Finance, Retail, Merchandising, Food & Beverage, and other functional areas to understand business challenges and provide financial support and insights.
Present actionable recommendations: Translate complex data into clear, meaningful insights that can be effectively communicated to leaders at various levels of the organization.
