About The Position

Pilot Company is seeking a Logistics Intern to join their team in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the summer of 2027. This internship offers a unique opportunity to address a current logistics challenge, potentially creating tools and processes for future use. The intern will be an integral part of the logistics team, focusing on refining processes, developing improved department tools, exploring new opportunities, and visualizing data. This role aims to provide exposure to the supply chain business while enhancing operational efficiency. It is ideal for a curious and collaborative student capable of working autonomously to achieve tangible results.

Requirements

A junior or senior pursuing a Supply Chain major preferably with a business analytics minor.
Experience in data analysis is essential.
Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Curious and can work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively with stakeholders at varying levels.
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills are also crucial.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Tableau and/or SAP, other database management tools, and AI-enabled solutions for managing and analyzing large datasets is a plus.
Previous work or organizational experience in a fast-paced environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

Gain exposure to our supply chain business: Logistics plans, schedules and executes the delivery of hundreds of fuel loads daily, accounting for millions of dollars in fuel buying decisions. This includes analyzing driver and market data to create the lowest cost action plans, prevent fuel outages, and capitalize on arbitrage opportunities, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Tackle real-world problems: Take on current logistics challenges, with projects potentially involving driver scheduling or increasing gallons hauled. Specific projects will be determined closer to the start of the internship to align with business needs.
Refine processes: Aid in refining and optimizing our processes.
Visualize data: Help the team visualize and interpret data using Tableau.
Provide lasting value: Contribute to the logistics department by creating tools that will be used for years to come.
Analyze data and present findings: Use your data analysis and presentation skills to provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders at varying levels.
