About The Position

The Program Instructor is responsible for a variety of duties including inmate classification program and activities programs. This role is responsible for providing reentry programming in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives. The Program Instructor will provide reentry programming to address inmates' criminogenic needs in accordance with contractual requirements. They will participate in program planning, development, training, and implementation of substance abuse treatment/education programs; monitor compliance with policies and procedures; and assist in providing consultative services to plan, implement, and monitor effective agency programs. The role requires maintaining a well-managed, comprehensive instructional environment and providing appropriate and effective direct classroom instruction to inmates, including preparing, maintaining, and assessing personal education plans (PEPs) for each inmate. The Program Instructor will oversee and coordinate scheduling of all prison-based Prisoner Reentry programs, maintain records, prepare reports, and prepare correspondence. Additionally, they will be responsible for developing and providing additional activities for inmate participation, such as athletic or crafting projects, and coordinating activities with facility directors and supervisors. The role also includes responsibility for the inmate classification program in accordance with contract requirements, monitoring inmate behavior and reporting incidents, and promoting the development of positive social skills through modeling and intervention. Maintaining accountability of staff, inmates, and property, and adhering to safety practices are also key functions. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Requirements

A minimum of 1) a bachelor's degree or, 2) an associate degree and two (2) years of full-time related work experience, or 3) high school diploma/GED and four (4) years of full-time related work experience in instruction or program facilitation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Computer proficiency required.
Valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide reentry programming to address inmates' criminogenic needs in accordance with contractual requirements.
Participates in program planning, development, training, and implementation of substance abuse treatment/education programs; monitors compliance with policies and procedures; and assists in providing consultative services to plan, implement, and monitor effective agency programs.

Coordinates activities with the direction and assistance of facility director in coordination with immediate supervisor.
Responsible for the inmate classification program in accordance to contract requirements.
Monitors inmate behavior and reports incidents, inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff.
Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
