Reporting to the Community Recreation Coordinator, the Program Instructor is accountable for planning and implementation of a safe and enjoyable beginner to intermediate program, teaching the fundamentals of Badminton. The role involves developing and implementing an 8-12 week sports program for children/youth ages 6 to 14, leading groups, ensuring safety and well-being, and providing an individualized approach to skill mastery and development. The instructor is responsible for ensuring necessary equipment is available and maintained, handling incidents and emergencies according to departmental policies, accurately completing attendance sheets, and assisting with special needs programming. A positive and inclusive program environment is to be fostered, encouraging full participation, best performance, and skill learning. The role requires cooperation and effective communication with participants and the Community Recreation Coordinator, preparing the class space before participants arrive and ensuring it is clean afterward. The instructor must abide by Town of Ajax policies, act professionally, and ensure effective public relations and problem-solving. Administrative tasks to support the program are also part of the responsibilities.
