About The Position

The Bilingual Program Implementer provides community outreach, overdose prevention education, opioid overdose reversal medication distribution, and individualized peer navigation in English and Spanish for YPR’s regional overdose prevention initiative. The position primarily serves adolescents and young adults ages 14–26 and their families, helping participants access prevention resources, navigate treatment and recovery services, and overcome language-related barriers to care. Through warm handoffs, recovery planning, and ongoing follow-up, the Bilingual Program Implementer supports meaningful connections to services throughout the four-county region.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English and Spanish required
  • Experience in peer recovery support, community health work, or social services
  • Lived experience in or proximity to recovery communities
  • Positive and supportive attitude toward all pathways of recovery
  • Sensitivity and awareness of the unique needs and stigmas associated with underserved populations
  • Technology/computer/virtual meeting experience required
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Respond to work-related communications from YPR employees within a reasonable timeframe during scheduled working hours, generally within one (1) business day, unless alternative arrangements have been approved in advance by the supervisor.
  • Celebrate both large and small victories while identifying and addressing bottlenecks or barriers the team may be experiencing.
  • Comply with all YPR reporting procedures, including ADP time tracking, Concur expense reporting, Salesforce/Community updates, and census reports.
  • Obtain and maintain all required training and certifications as directed by the organization or supervisor, including but not limited to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Sexual Abuse, and Cyber Security.
  • Represent the organization professionally in all interactions.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Supports special projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Conduct bilingual community outreach. Engage English- and Spanish-speaking participants and families through community events, partner organizations, and other outreach activities across the service area.
  • Provide overdose prevention education. Deliver education in English and Spanish on overdose recognition, response, counterfeit pill risks, and administration of opioid overdose reversal medications using standardized project materials and SAMHSA’s Overdose Prevention and Response Toolkit.
  • Distribute overdose reversal medications. Assist with kit assembly and distribution at outreach events and partner locations, following project procedures and documenting distribution activities.
  • Deliver individualized peer navigation. Help participants identify recovery goals, develop recovery plans, understand available resources, and navigate substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, and recovery support.
  • Facilitate warm handoffs. Actively connect participants with providers and community partners, helping them understand referral steps and access services responsive to their language needs.
  • Provide bilingual follow-up and participant support. Maintain contact with participants after referrals, address barriers to engagement, and confirm whether connections to treatment and recovery services were completed.
  • Support accessible prevention programming. Collaborate with the Community Education Specialist and outreach team to deliver bilingual programming and share participant feedback on the clarity and usefulness of educational resources.
  • Maintain timely service records. Document participant contacts, outreach, education, medication distribution, referrals, warm handoffs, and follow-up outcomes in Pathwell, YPR’s electronic performance management platform.
  • Support continuous improvement. Communicate language access challenges, participant concerns, and unmet community needs to the project team.
  • Complete required training. Participate in project training on overdose prevention, overdose reversal medication administration, counterfeit pill awareness, and trauma-informed service delivery.
  • Team Collaboration. Work closely with the Program Implementer/Bilingual Specialist, Community Education Specialist, Community Outreach & Partnerships Manager, and Program Coordinator/Data Lead to coordinate outreach, deliver consistent education, connect participants to services, and maintain accurate records.
  • Contribute to the project’s annual targets alongside other staff and community partners: Conduct at least 150 community outreach events, providing prevention education to at least 2,500 unduplicated participants. Distribute at least 2,500 FDA-approved opioid overdose reversal medication kits. Train at least 1,500 community members in overdose recognition, response, and medication administration. Enroll at least 400 participants in peer navigation services. Achieve a referral completion rate of at least 75% to treatment and recovery support services.
  • Collaborate to support and implement YPR’s strategic plan while promoting and encouraging the many pathways of recovery.
