About The Position

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is seeking a motivated professional to serve in a supervisory role within the Office of Grant Administration (PSA Option1). This position oversees the administration, compliance, and monitoring of legislatively directed capital grants, Governor’s Office-directed capital grants, and DCEO special project grants. The role is responsible for developing and implementing grant management policies and quality assurance standards, ensuring funds are utilized in accordance with grant agreements, legislative intent, and applicable state and federal regulations. This position plays a key role in maintaining program integrity, strengthening accountability, and supporting the effective delivery of economic development grant programs across the state. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience executing, administering and monitoring a local, state or federal grant.
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience with performance and program reporting, including quality control and assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as manager of the Program Grant Management Unit.
  • Administers the development, review, and implementation of the unit’s policy, procedures, and guidelines for the grant management and compliance of program grants and Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) special projects grants.
  • In consultation with programmatic office at DCEO, develops quality assurance guidelines and project evaluation procedures.
  • Serves as working supervisor.
  • Provides oversite and fiscal compliance to validate if grants awards have been utilized according to grant agreement, program intent and within guidelines of grant management policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
