About The Position

Global Kids educates, inspires, and mobilizes youth to become global citizens who are positively engaged in the world and are prepared for their future. Global Kids, Inc. is seeking creative, hard-working, and passionate individuals who are experienced in youth development, academic support, global education, and social action, and are interested in working in New York City in collaboration with the NYC Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS). All positions will be in-person. Selected candidates will facilitate workshops with the ONS Youth Leadership Council (YLC), a civic engagement initiative that empowers older youth living in thirty (30) Mayor’s Action Plan for Neighborhood Safety (MAP) New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments to shape public safety and well-being priorities in their communities. Program Facilitators will be responsible for designing and leading dynamic, youth-centered activities that foster personal growth, academic enrichment, and social-emotional learning. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development and skilled at creating inclusive, engaging environments that inspire participation and leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with youth in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Experience in planning and leading activities for diverse groups of participants.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment to youth development.
  • Ability to work 25 hours per week, with some weekends required.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred.
  • Fluency in other languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities focused on public safety and well-being, civic engagement, policy and advocacy, and life skills that align with the participants' interests and needs.
  • Develop lesson plans that are age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with DYCD guidelines and standards.
  • Facilitate activities that encourage teamwork, leadership, and positive social interactions.
  • Foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Encourage participant engagement in all activities.
  • Provide individual and group support to participants, addressing their social-emotional and academic needs.
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one check-in sessions with a caseload of participants.
  • Work closely with other staff members, including Program Directors and other Global Kids employees, to ensure a cohesive and integrated program.
  • Work closely with staff from the NYC Office of Neighborhood Safety and CUNY Intergenerational Change Initiative (ICI).
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Track and report on participant progress and program outcomes.
  • Conduct regular assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with all program regulations and guidelines from Global Kids and the NYC Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS).
