About The Position

As the Program Engineering Manager for Babcock projects, you will provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of multidisciplinary engineering teams. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of complex engineering activities ensuring that all deliverables meet strict technical, time, cost, and quality requirements. Your role will be instrumental in aligning engineering resources, tools, and processes in accordance with Babcock’s rigorous policies to deliver technical outcomes that support national defence capability. This role also plays a critical part in fostering collaboration across contracts to successfully deliver all capabilities. You will drive technical excellence across the lifecycle—leading investigations, making complex engineering decisions, managing technical risks, and ensuring the production and maintenance of robust technical documentation. You are a seasoned engineering professional with a strong background in managing complex, high-stakes programs within the defence or mission-critical systems domain. Your experience has honed your ability to lead technical teams, balance competing priorities, and make informed decisions throughout the engineering lifecycle. You’re confident in your ability to communicate technical information clearly to a variety of stakeholders and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where accuracy, safety, and compliance are paramount. Your leadership style promotes capability growth, knowledge sharing, and talent development. You’re passionate about mentoring team members, driving process improvements, and building sustainable engineering practices. Requirements

  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance
  • Extensive experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.
  • Proven experience in managing applicable engineering function and/or technical delivery.
  • An in-depth understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve desired results.
  • Tertiary qualification in a related technical discipline with solid understanding of applicable engineering toolsets.
  • Eligible for membership of a relevant professional body with a zest for continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct single‑domain technical investigations and analysis to generate data that supports problem assessment, resolution, and the design of improvements.
  • Plan, deliver, and monitor your own tasks, ensuring all requirements are met to the agreed time, quality, and cost standards.
  • Apply your technical knowledge to produce high‑quality documentation and solutions in support of assigned tasks, in line with the applicable Delegation of Authority.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of accurate technical documentation, ensuring records are securely stored within the appropriate data‑management systems to enable effective through‑life knowledge capture.
