About The Position

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is developing a new Emergency Medicine Residency Program, set to launch in July 2027. They are seeking an experienced Program Director to lead the ACGME application process and establish a leading training environment. This role offers the chance to design and build a high-quality academic program within a growing community, based at a 190-bed hospital recognized for its quality metrics, patient safety, and satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a collaborative clinician-educator passionate about resident education, with a strong background in graduate medical education and at least three years of leadership experience in an ACGME-accredited program. The position begins as a consulting role during accreditation and transitions to a .5 FTE Program Director role upon approval, with the remaining time dedicated to clinical Emergency Medicine practice.

Requirements

  • Board certification in ABEM or AOBEM
  • Minimum 3 years of recent educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited residency
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, curriculum development, and scholarly activity.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organizational, and administrative skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Program Director or Associate Program Director experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ACGME application and accreditation process for the new Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
