About The Position

The Prevention Initiative program, part of SAL Community Services, is the Quad Cities area’s leading provider of early childhood care and education. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for. The Prevention Initiative (PI) Program Director will provide leadership, oversight and management of the PI program. The Program Director is responsible for effective service delivery, contract compliance, intra- and inter-agency coordination, and evaluation of performance in accordance with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) Child Care Licensing, and other local/state regulations. The PI Program is an ISBE grant funded program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Administration or related social science field.
  • At least three years of experience is required in supervision of staff, fiscal management, and administration in a licensed childcare setting and/or PI program.
  • Must obtain required background clearances.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Administration or related social science field.
  • Five-plus years of experience with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting and/or PI program.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall implementation, oversight of day-to-day functions, ongoing performance, direction, coordination, and evaluation of all the PI program through SAL.
  • Work in coordination with the Skip-a-Long Center Directors, Partners in the Home Child Care Network, the Early Head Start Director, the Vice President of Early Care and Education, and other directors on program planning and development, integration, ongoing monitoring, human resources, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Oversee the ongoing monitoring of the organization’s directly operated PI program and contracted Home Child Care Network providers and partners to ensure compliance with applicable grant, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor to ensure all families enrolled in the program meet all requirements for eligibility in accordance with the PI Standards and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work with the grant accountant, and other fiscal staff to ensure funding supports all program goals, objectives and all contract requirements.
  • Ensure data is collected and reported accurately; develop action plans to best respond to families, children, and program needs.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to PI team.
  • Maintain on-going communication with PI team and Vice President of Early Care and Education regarding the reporting of unusual incidents and follow-up.
  • Ensure the responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities of all subordinates in accordance with organization and grantor policies and applicable federal and state laws.
