About The Position

The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking a Program Director to lead its Residential Programs in Hartford, CT. These programs aim to establish life-changing relationships with participants, providing opportunities to optimize their independence, rehabilitation, and recovery. The Program Director will oversee select CHD Residential programs that support individuals in their recovery from mental illness, ensuring both clinical and operational effectiveness. This role involves providing training and supervision to Program Managers, fostering open communication and accountability among staff, and acting as a liaison to service providers and the broader community. Responsibilities also include conducting diagnostic assessments, reviewing program documentation for compliance with agency and Medicaid standards, and supporting third-party billing processes. The Program Director is expected to be available for urgent matters outside of regular work hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with individuals with psychiatric needs.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and crisis management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with community partners and service providers.
  • Experience with staff training, client advocacy, and service coordination.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations using sound judgment.
  • Reliable automobile and valid driver’s license.
